It all started with a bottle of Tabasco.
Grumbling over how the café didn’t have other options for spicy condiments, Damien reached for the sole Tabasco bottle on the shelf when another hand beat him to it. A guy who was about his age laughed and apologized, and suggested they should share a table so they could both have a go with the sauce. He didn’t expect to have lunch with someone he just met, but then again, his mama did say he should always give people a chance and socialize.
“I don’t think I’ve seen you around before…have I?”
“Probably not,” the new guy said, grinning. Hi
His hands were the size of a small child when they reached out to touch those of the warm and kind stranger, but they were worn out, blistered and bruised, and numbed to the touch. Yuui wasn't a child in this situation, and he never really did have a childhood in the first place. He and Fai instead had been treated in scorn as if they were adult criminals and could never be treated or cared for, left to wither away (but never intended to die) in the forsaken valley. But for all this man had to offer, he would take it.
"What is your name?" he asked.
If he was given a second chance to atone for his sins, he would do whatever it took to bring
"Mother, when's Father coming home?"
Seven-year-old Youou was lying in his bed and was about to be tucked in by his mother. Yet he wasn't sleepy at all because he was pressing to know about his father's welfare. His mother, the priestess, was about to raise the sheets with her graceful hands when she paused to weigh Youou's question carefully.
"I'm afraid I do not know, dear," she said with faintness in her voice.
Youou immediately noticed her concern. He didn't like seeing his mother so sad. "Is it because Father has to fight a lot of demons?"
"Yes." The priestess folded her hands in her lap and bent her head in a quick prayer even thoug
To say that snow and ice reminds Fai of cold and emptiness is an understatement.
It isn't the whiteness, although it does remind him of worlds he came from and left behind.
Instead, red is the only color that comes to mind. Red for the blood spilt from his beloved brother, beloved king, and even his beloved ninja onto the snow.
But now as he admires the beauty of winter against the other's chest and tilts his head back, the only red he sees is Kurogane's eyes that look at him affectionately.
This time red means enduring warmth and happiness.

All I Ever Wanted - for Fran
His true memories and wishes have been set free at last.
He had died once, but this time he may finally die in peace in the arms of the soulless princess.
You reach out for him, but the wounded man grabs your wrist. "Let him rest! he says bluntly.
"I can't," you utter, even though you know he means well. "Because of me, I couldn't let him rest in peace."
"Please," you whisper as tears fall down your cheeks, "please forgive me, Fai."
"Please have some rest."
You do not even have to turn around to know that it is the princess who is urging you to sleep. Instead, you remain standing on the cool, wooden floor, staring at the closed doors o
He was gone.
His whole body trembled as he held the still dragon in his arms, the noble and compassionate creature that sacrificed his life to save him.
His only friend was gone.
"I'm so sorry," the young wizard spoke in his mind so he and the departed creature were the only ones who could hear him.
"If only you could have lived longer," he wept out loud as several teardrops landed on the dragon's head.
When I was born they said that as soon as I opened my eyes the midwife and everyone else surrounding the bed were left speechless.
You see, my eyes were a brilliant shade of red - crimson to be precise - and they were unusual. Nobody in

You and Me Pt.2 - for Kendra
Fai's body was still brutally exhausted now that it realized how much stress it endured the previous day, but his mind couldn't shut off when he woke up early that morning. He was placed in a spare room in the other men's surprisingly spacious apartment. Not sure what to do, he scrambled to the kitchen, wearing a set of pajamas that he borrowed from Yuui. The mage had no idea how he would continue searching for the others, but he would try of course.
Just then one of them was making his way into the kitchen. With his black hair untidy and crimson eyes closed shut while yawning the man scampered towards his coffeemaker.
"Good morning, Kuro-s
